Seminar “Hypnotherapy for ADD/ADHD”

SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off

Where:  Hyatt Regency, 24500 Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway, Valencia
Details:  The Real Estate Community of Santa Clarita is holding the Second SCV Annual Charity Chili Cook-Off.  The cook-off benefits a number of local charities.  Representatives from each charity will be at the cook-off.  The entry fee for the event is $5.  The entry fee to enter the chili contest is $50.  More information is available by calling 661-816-4234 or on Facebook.

The Church On The Way Santa Clarita “The Art Of Marriage”

When:  Saturday, March 1 from 9am-5pm
Where:  The Church On The Way Santa Clarita, 23415 Cinema Drive, Santa Clarita
Details:  The Church On The Way Santa Clarita has a one-day video conference on “The Art of Marriage.”  “The Art of Marriage is a unique curriculum developed by FamilyLife that has impacted over 400,000 people since its release in 2011.  This interactive conference will address a lot of the challenges married couples face, and will help bless and strengthen your marriage.”  The cost is $35, plus $5 per child for childcare.  More information and registration is available by calling 661-291-6000 or online.  

Canyon Theatre Guild “The Hobbit” 

When:  Friday at 8pm: February 28; Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm: March 1

Details:  J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic tale of Middle Earth is at Canyon Theatre Guild with performances of “The Hobbit.”  The play tells the story of Bilbo Baggins and a band of dwarves as they go on a remarkable journey encountering wizards, trolls, elves and a dragon.  Tickets are $12/$15 for juniors/seniors and $15/$17 for adults.  More information on the play and tickets are available by calling 661-799-2702 or online.

Canyon Theatre Guild “Dixie Swim Club”

When:  Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm on: March 1
Where:  Canyon Theatre Guild, 24342 Main Street in Old Town Newhall

Ice Station Valencia “Skate-A-Thon”

When:  Saturday, March 1 from 2-7pm
Where:  Ice Station Valencia, 27445 North Smyth, Valencia – across from Valencia High School
Details:  Ice Station Valencia is hosting “Skate-A-Thon” to benefit SNAP, Special Needs Athlete and Peers. Santa Clarita City Council Candidate Forum

Become A Foster Or Adoptive Parent

Where:  Westfield Valencia Town Center, JCPenney Center Court
Details:  KHTS will be broadcast live a presentation “Become a Foster or Adoptive Parent” sponsored by Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services.  The website is Share Your Heart LA – an apt description of what is needed for so many children in Los Angeles County.  And Santa Clarita families may be the answer.  Come hear what the difference is between an adoptive and foster parent, who can become a foster or adoptive parent, who the children are that need permanent or temporary homes, and all the responsibilities come with sharing your heart.  Currently there is a display of the children waiting to be adopted in the “Beautiful Heart Gallery” in the JCPenney Center Court.  The photo gallery will be on display through March 15.  More information is available by calling 888-811-1121 or online. 

City Of Santa Clarita Art SLAM “Fem SLAM”

When:  Thursday, March 6 from 7-10pm
Where:  Main Street, Old Town Newhall

St. Clare Lenten Fish Fry

When:  Fridays from 4:30-8pm from March 7 through April 11
Where:  Saint Clare of Assisi, 19606 Calla Way, Canyon Country
Details:  Lent is here and St. Clare’s is again holding their Lenten Fish Fry.  The dinners include beer battered Alaska cod, French fries or rice pilaf, coleslaw, rolls, and coffee, tea or milk.  Desserts are available for purchase at the Bake Sale table.  Other beverages are available for purchase.  A two-piece dinner is $9 and three-piece for $10.  Meals are dine-in or take-out.  Proceeds benefit the needy in Santa Clarita. 

Congressional Art Competition

Details:  The Congressional Art Competition is now accepting artwork submissions.  The competition is open to all high school students within the California 25th District represented by Congressman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon.  Read more about the competition, criteria, submission locations and past winners in an article on the KHTS website: Congressional Art Competition Accepting Submissions Until April 21. The judging ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30 at 4pm at FastFrame Valencia.

SCV Youth Project “Sweet Charity Cake Auction”

When:  Saturday, March 8 at 6pm
Where:  Valencia Country Club, 27330 North Tourney Road, Valencia

Santa Clarita Elks & Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers “Bob Kellar Roast” 

When:  Saturday, March 8 at 6pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Elks Lodge, 17766 Sierra Highway, Canyon Country
