The event is expected to draw thousands of attendees, featuring live music and entertainment, more than 50 restaurants, wineries and breweries to eat and drink from, live and silent auctions and drawings to win a 15-day cruise to the Hawaiian Islands as well as a 1-carat diamond from Belgium valued at more than $5,000, according to a news release by the Child & Family Center. “Taste of the Town is a really fun way to enjoy great food and spirits among friends while supporting the Child & Family Center in providing mental health, behavioral and education services to children, teens, adults and families,” said Joyce Carson, five-time chairwoman of Taste of the Town and this year’s co-chair, in an earlier interview.

All proceeds from Taste of the Town go directly to the Child & Family Center, with last year’s event having raised approximately $223,000.

Darrell Paulk, CEO of the Child & Family Center, called Taste of the Town their “number one fundraiser of the year,” going on to say, “People don’t know what we do to help the families in the Santa Clarita Valley who have mental health issues, substance abuse issues and those at risk for child abuse. Our work is silent and we keep it that way, because if we are successful, you don’t hear about it on the news.”

The Child & Family Center serves nearly 650 clients from the Santa Clarita Valley per week and recently created a new program to serve Santa Clarita’s U.S. military veterans.

Taste of the Town’s prestigious sponsor list includes Classic Designs Jewelry, KHTS AM-1220, the city of Santa Clarita, Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co., Habitat for Humanity, and many more. Sponsorships benefit sponsors from extensive pre-event media coverage, event-day recognition, signage and advertising, and are still available, event officials said.

Drawing tickets are now on sale for the luxurious 15-day cruise for two to the Hawaiian Islands, courtesy of Princess Cruises.

Participants must purchase a drawing ticket for $100 by either calling or stopping by the Child & Family Center, but do not need to be present at Taste of the Town when the winner is selected. There is no limit to the number of tickets per person but only 200 tickets are available, event officials said.

“The drawing enhances the whole experience,” said Laura Kirchhoff, development associate for special events at the Child & Family Center. “Taste of the Town is all about the total experience.”

General admission to the event, which is all-inclusive and for adults only, is $75 per person. Reserved seating with an umbrella is available for $100 per person and must be purchased in advance.

Taste of the Town is scheduled for May 4 from 1-5 p.m. at the Mann Biomedical Park, located at 25104 Rye Canyon Loop in Santa Clarita. To purchase tickets online, click here.
