“The plan identifies improvements on approximately 14 acres of the 60‑acre park property, leaving the majority of the site in its natural state,” according to the Hike Santa Clarita Master Plan Rivendale Park & Open Space article. “As proposed, the master plan increases parking from the existing 107 spaces to approximately 311 spaces and adds over 2-1/2 miles of new trails, trailhead enhancements, a cultural/educational use area, an amphitheater with 300-400 fixed seats plus grass seating, and identifies three small restrooms on the site.”
Rivendale Ranch is located in Towsley Canyon.
Santa Clarita Valley residents are asked to come to the city council meeting to discuss the concept plan.
“The plan includes the removal the red-tagged buildings & horse stalls, creating a safer and more secure parking lot, adding 2.5 miles of new trails, the possibility of an interpretive center for the history of the area and for education, a new trailhead and amenities for hikers, and an performance space,” according to David Sears, producing art director of the Shakespeare Festival.
