The City of Santa Clarita will begin construction on Monday to improve street conditions and prolong the life of the roads. Construction will continue Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., until Tuesday, Aug. 13.
The project is part of the concrete rehabilitation program, including sidewalk repair, which constructs new wheelchair ramps and replaces existing damaged sidewalks; curb and gutter repair, which improves the drainage flow into local storm drains; and the access ramp program, which installs new access ramps serving the disabled community.
Lane closures should be expected during construction hours, with partial lane openings for traffic. The intersection of Soledad Canyon and Honby Ave. will be closed for the duration of construction.
Westbound traffic on Soledad Canyon Road will be detoured to Furnivall Avenue for access into the nearby community. Residential homes on the closed portion of Honby Ave. will have access to their properties off of Soledad Street.
Eastbound traffic on Soledad Canyon Road will be directed to turn left at Furnivall Avenue or make a U-turn at the left turn pocket that leads into the Parklane Estate mobile home park just past Honby Ave.
Detour plans have been developed and signage will be placed around the detour route. The project will be completed before school starts on Wednesday, Aug. 14, and will not affect Rio Vista Elementary School traffic. For more information, contact Associate Engineer Christina Monde at 661-255-4959.
