Rick Allen Walker Gets Seven Years For June 17 DUI Wrong Way Crash

Rick Allen Walker, 54, of Canyon Country was sentenced to seven years in state prison on Thursday, according to a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Walker is convicted of four counts of DUI causing injury in connection with a wrong way crash on June 17.

Walker was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 14 during rush hour, when he struck several cars, starting a chain reaction that involved nine vehicles. Eleven people were injured, four of them seriously.

Walker suffered lacerations in the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was treated for his injuries, and booked into the CHP’s Newhall station.

He pleaded no contest on Aug. 19 the the four counts.

Judge Michael O’Gara imposed the maximum sentence on Walker at the San Fernando Courthouse, according to a statement released by the D.A.’s Office.

Deputy District Attorney Ani Bailey of the San Fernando Branch Office prosecuted the case.
