But the project is soon to be completed, culminating with a ribbon-cutting on Thursday at 10 a.m.
There will be 27 new parking spaces added to the Valencia Library parking lot to help ease congestion.
City staff are also updating the space with new lighting, landscaping and irrigation.
On Tuesday, the City Council will discuss a public art installation for the renovated parking lot, in addition to its $15,000 budget.

“Imag_ne” uses large Scrabble-like letter tiles to spell the word “imagine,” but with the second “i” missing. Library patrons can stand in for the “i”, as a photo opportunity.
Though the new parking lot opens on Thursday, the art piece will be installed in a couple of months, according to City Spokeswoman Gail Ortiz.
“This expansion is a great example of the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing our existing infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the community,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “We know the Valencia Library parking lot is heavily used, as the branch and other facilities in the area attract thousands each week, so the additional spaces will enhance accessibility conditions for residents and visitors.”
The Valencia Library Parking Lot Expansion project is part of the city of Santa Clarita’s ongoing commitment to balance new projects with improvement projects at existing facilities to support a high quality of life for residents and visitors, according to a city press release.
