Irwin Entertainment, a production company in Los Angeles, is currently developing a new show for a well known celebrity and entertainment network.

They are looking for single moms between 28 and 38-years-old who have a teenage son or daughter.

“It’s a development project looking to create a show where a group of single moms were teen moms at one time, and now they’re older,” said Rebecca Greenberg, a casting producer for Irwin Entertainment.

The idea behind the show is to find out what the conversation is like between mother and child.

“Ultimately its like maybe these moms hang out together and bounce ideas off each other,” said Greenberg.

This is the first week of the search, and will continue until the first week of August.

The search is nationwide, but Greenberg has done a lot of casting in Santa Clarita.

“At this time, I’m just trying to find the single moms” said Greenberg, “It’s in the basic, beginning stages to see if this is even out there.”

The teen birth rate in the Santa Clarita Valley is on the rise. The Santa Clarita Valley Pregnancy Center estimates there were approximately 410 births to unmarried 15-24-year-olds in 2010 and project about a 10 percent increase by 2015.

The total number of pregnancies for this age range is estimated to increase to 553 pregnant high school and college aged unmarried females by 2015.

The Santa Clarita Valley Pregnancy Center calculated their estimates based on averages using statistics provided by the Center For Disease Control, and then applied those Santa Clarita demographics and projections.

The teenage birth rate in Los Angeles County in 2011 was 28.8 per one thousand among females aged 15-19, which was just slightly above the California average of 28, according to the California Department of Public Health.
