Planned Burn Projects To Begin This Month In Mt. Pinos Ranger District

Los Padres National Forest officials announced the decision to conduct several prescribed burn projects over the next several months to eliminate piled brush in the Mt. Pinos Ranger District.

The brush was cut and piled while constructing fuel breaks around local communities. This process will involve crews lighting piled brush when weather conditions and air quality are suitable for safely burning these fuels.

The project locations are adjacent to Pine Mountain Club, Frazier Park, and Lake of the Woods.

Except for occasional smoke, residents are not expected to be affected by the burnings, according to Division Chief John Abell. No road closures are planned, and local fire and sheriff departments have been notified.

The burnings may begin as early as January 27 and continue into April or May.

If you have questions about the projects, please contact John Abell at 661-245-3731 or the Mt. Pinos District Office at 661-245-3731. For more information about the Mt. Pinos Ranger District, click here.
