A memorial car meet for actor Paul Walker and CEO Roger Rodas, who both passed away in a car accident on Nov. 30, 2013, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 in Santa Clarita.

Over 5,000 people are expected to visit the memorial site to pay their respects and grieve publicly from noon to 5 p.m. at the crash site located at 25690 Hercules street in Valencia.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department and the City of Santa Clarita recommend the public avoid the Rye Canyon Business Park if at all possible on Sunday in anticipation of a reported public memorial for actor Paul Walker and Roger Rodas. Ongoing parking restrictions and lane closures will remain in place and will be enforced.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, traffic will be altered, making Kelly Johnson Parkway a one way street, west of Constellation Road, which will continue to Alta Vista Drive. Alta Vista Drive will be a one-way street, eastbound to Copperhill. There will be no westbound traffic on Alta Vista or Constellation Road. Local access to area businesses will be permitted during that time.

In the interest of public safety, the Sheriff’s Department encourages those choosing to travel through the area to exercise extreme caution. Traffic is anticipated to be heaviest between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Santa Clarita Transit will continue to operate, but the public may experience delays. Residents can contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department at (661) 255-1121 for more information.

Both Rodas and Walker were in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that slammed into a tree off Hercules Street, near Kelly Johnson Parkway, in the Rye Canyon Business Park.

The car burst into flames, and both occupants were declared dead at the scene.

The two were friends, with Walker having ties to two Valencia-based car companies, Rodas the CEO of one called Always Evolving Performance.

A private memorial took place Tuesday night, with Universal Studios officials obtaining permits and hiring deputies to close off the streets near the crash site.

Sunday’s Car Meet and Memorial is open to the public to honor the lives of both Paul Walker and Roger Rodas.
