The art reception was free to the public and took place during the SCAA art show at Union Bank, a presentation which began Tuesday and is set to finish Saturday.
Oscar Dominguez, vice president and manager for the Newhall branch of Union Bank, said the reception was a good way to bring people in Santa Clarita together while supporting the arts.
“I’m excited about Santa Clarita meeting their local artists who are showcasing their work,” Dominguez said. “It’s a really powerful statement that we’re making here. Here is an organization that is local to Santa Clarita and amazing artwork is being produced here locally. Tonight is about bringing this community together to celebrate these artists.”
An eclectic mix of styles were represented at the show, including water color, impressionist and photography.
The artists, whose works were represented at the event, were on hand to speak about their productions and the SCAA.
“I paint things from my travels,” said Gary Friedman, a member of the SCAA. “By joining [the SCAA] we meet a lot of interesting people who wear a lot of different hats in the community.
Jenaha McLearn, a bank teller at Union Bank, provided live vocals for the event and was accompanied on the piano by Nick Marcucci.
“I think [the SCAA is] doing an excellent job bringing art to the community,” David Veal, lifetime member of the SCAA, said. The organization brings different styles to Santa Clarita.”
Raffle tickets were also provided to attendees, with the winners being announced at 7:30 p.m. The winner was presented with their raffle prize by two contestants from the Miss Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Pageant.
