Monthly Art Slam In Newhall Becomes 'Sound Slam' For June

The next Thursdays@Newhall Art Slam on June 6 is being re-imagined as a “Sound Slam,” featuring live musicians and exhibits all focusing on music and sound.

Sound SlamCome to Old Town Newhall at Main Street and Lyons Avenue from 7 to 11 p.m. to enjoy activities such as Silent Disco and an interactive exhibit called “The Third Room,” utilizing projection, quadrophonic sound, robotics, interfaces and a Kinect camera.

Performers such as Adjoa Skinner, Franz Keller, Alex Davis and the Ary Sisters and Tony Palermo will demonstrate their unique music skills, involving nontraditional instruments and electronic sounds.

A number of other exhibits will feature local artist Pam Zamora’s “Soundsuits,” an industrial plastic ensemble and instrument sculptures made from cardboard.

The Art Slam comes to Newhall on the first Thursday of every month and is free and open to the public. Other Thursdays@Newhall events include the weekly farmers' market and the SENSES festival on the third Thursday of the month.
