County of Los Angeles Public Library officials are restoring service hours to all libraries that have had their hours reduced, effective Tuesday, Sep. 2.

Three of the closest libraries that will be increasing their hours are the Castaic library, here in the Santa Clarita Valley, and neighboring Acton and Lancaster Libraries.

Individuals are visiting libraries for many reasons like computer literacy, homework help and early childhood literacy programs. By restoring the hours, libraries will have the opportunity to provide additional programs and services.County Of Los Angeles Public Library

“We are thrilled that the Board of Supervisors approved the budget for the restoration of County Library service hours,” said County Librarian Margaret Donnellan Todd. “Our libraries provide an essential gathering place for our patrons, and having restored hours allows our librarians the opportunity to provide a place for learning, collaboration and community.”

Libraries will be able to increase their budget by 3.6 million.
