Key is looking to help business owners become “SEO pros,” with an in-person Web education that will not only debunk myths, but also open new opportunities for small businesses, he said.

“The level is going to be from beginning to expert — even experts can use a refresher,” Key said. “The real goal is to educate local business owners on the dos and don’ts and educate them about the Internet.”

As someone who’s worked in the field of Search Engine Optimization for more than a decade, the Santa Clarita resident said the target audience is people looking to increase their business site visibility.

“The ones I’d really like to target are local business owners,” Key said. “They’re the ones who need a lot of help, and they’re the ones who can’t afford an SEO guy like me.”

He also stressed that people will be allowed networking opportunities, but during the workshop, it will be all about SEO.

“One of the big things about this group is that we want everyone to leave their agendas at the door, there’s no pitching or selling,” Key said.

“Come early if you want to network and make new friends or stay late if you want make new friends,” he said.

“It’s an awesome workshop for beginners,” Key said, “and it’s an awesome workshop for ones who really know what they’re doing.”

Here’s a few of the topics that will be addressed at the first workshop: Meta Tags, Title Tags, Description Tags, Keyword Tags and Clean SEO Search Engine friendly URL’s.

“SEO Made Easy” is the theme of the event, and it’s an affordable — essentially, free — way that people can instantly increase their mark in the virtual marketplace.

The group’s next workshop will be held Tuesday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at Intero Real Estate Services Building on 28301 Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia. Although you must RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/Search_Engine_Optimization/

“If the internet intimidates you, you need to be here,” Key said. “Whether you think you’re too new for this and don‘t understand or whether you think you’re the expert, I guarantee you’ll learn something — or you might remember something that you should have been doing all along.”
