Junior Chamber International Of The SCV Gears Up For Toy Drive

For 14 years, the Junior Chamber International of the Santa Clarita Valley has reaching out to local families during the holidays, to make sure that no child celebrates Christmas without a gift.

Their 15th annual Santa’s Helpers toy drive begins in October.

The Chamber will accept age-appropriate gifts from infant to 18 years, including gift cards for the older children.

The drive will culminate with a Santa’s Helpers Christmas party for the children at the Valencia Ice Station on Dec. 14.

Currently, the Chamber is looking for businesses that would be willing to host toy drive boxes, in addition to volunteers under the age of 40.

Chamber President Neil Fitzgerald said that this year, they are partnering with the Child and Family Center, Single Mothers Outreach and Family Promise to reach as many as 200 families.

Chamber volunteers will match each child to a gift based on their age and gender.

The gifts will be distributed at a Christmas party for the children, hosted by the Valencia Ice Station. There will be pizza, cake, face painting, crafts and a chance to take pictures with Santa Claus.

Fitzgerald said they want to “make sure everyone gets the best possible Christmas experience.”

Currently, toys can be donated to Planet Yogurt in Valencia.
