Jersey Mike’s Looks To Give To Schools With Subs Giveaway

Jersey Mike’s Subs in Saugus is celebrating its fifth anniversary Wednesday by giving back to its community, said officials with the local eatery.

In celebration of five years in business and to thank its customers, Jersey Mike’s will be giving away FREE regular and mini subs all day long, with a $2 donation.

“Jersey Mike’s of Santa Clarita wants to help the WiSH Education Foundation reach tangible goals and meet the needs of all the students throughout the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Amy Sandberg, Jersey Mike’s of Santa Clarita Marketing Director.

Customers are being asked to make a donation when getting their sub (minimum $2.00), all of which will be donated to the William S. Hart School District’s WiSH Education Foundation.

The WiSH Education Foundation was established in 2011 as a fundraising arm of the William S. Hart School District in response to district-wide budget cuts and the need for new learning material. The foundation works with local area businesses and residents to raise money for the purchase of equipment and materials that the schools will need.

“The newly established partnership between Jersey Mike’s and the WiSH Education Foundation extends their generosity by showing support for larger projects that will benefit student programs,” said Rob Challinor, District Superintendent. “Jersey Mike’s has been so generous to the schools in the Hart School District to help support and promote the many great things we do for students.”

In December 2012, Jersey Mike’s and WiSH representatives met to design a partnership to help support student programs across the Santa Clarita Valley. Jersey Mike’s Subs of Santa Clarita has committed to raising $10,000 for the purchase of new microscopes.

The WiSH Education Foundation identified key items needed in the science department of each school. In response, Jersey Mike’s developed a “Wishes Come True,” campaign that will be launched at the store’s fifth anniversary. It will also include an ongoing partnership throughout the semester involving each of the 16 schools in the William S. Hart Union School District.

Jersey Mike’s Subs in Saugus at the corner of Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road will be the only location featuring free subs on February 27. Other locations included in the ongoing partnership include Valencia on Copperhill Drive next to the Albertson’s, Canyon Country on Soledad Canyon Road next to the library and Stevenson Ranch next to the Wells Fargo Bank. A fifth store will open in mid-May in Golden Valley next to Target and Kohl’s.
