ID Confirmed For Valencia Man Who Died In Wednesday’s Crash

The man who was struck and killed by a minivan in Newhall Wednesday night, was identified Friday as 72-year-old Marlin George Stowers, of Valencia, according to Ed Winter, Assistant Chief of Investigation with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Unit are investigating the fatal crash that occurred around 6 p.m. on Wiley Canyon Road, east of Orchard Village Road.

Stowers was struck by a minivan. He was then transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The name of the driver was not released, and while the crash is being investigated, no arrests were announced.
