From 6:30 to 10:00 p.m., the Heritage Haunt put on by the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will feature several different attractions and haunted houses, including a Zombie Dance Party every night, the “Asylum: House of Madness” in the Newhall Ranch House and a haunted cemetery.
Guests will also be able to get their picture taken with scary characters wandering the grounds and browse the local vendor booths featuring food and Halloween decor.
On Friday, opening night, the first 100 guests to arrive at Brave New World Comics on Lyons Avenue with two cans of food for the SCV Food Pantry, will get into the Heritage Haunt for free. They will then march through Downtown Newhall to Heritage Junction Park, as part of the Zombie March.
The Haunt is not recommended for children under 8 years old, but the Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is geared toward the whole family.
Children and their parents can participate in the pumpkin carving contest, a “Creatures of the Night” nature presentation, crafts, games and gold panning and a backstage tour of the haunted house attractions.
Linda Casebolt or Bridget Odien of SCV Ghost Hunters are also offering ghost hunts from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 and from 7 p.m. to midnight on Halloween, Oct. 31. Call 661-513-3604 for more information.
