During the first full-scale disaster healthcare volunteer deployment exercise, Henry Mayo joined five other hospitals to show the media how physicians, nurses, respiratory therapist and a pharmacist would provide care to two simulating earthquake victims.
“The goal is to create a disaster simulation in case something happened in LA county,” said Katreena Salgado, spokeswoman for Henry Mayo.
The Emergency Expo is part of the 44th Annual Santa Clarita Home and Garden Show. Henry Mayo will have a surge tent meant to educate the community about how to prepare for an emergency, such as an earthquake or a natural disaster.
“They will have packets that will teach (people) how to have a communications plan, have a disaster readiness plan, one for for items to have in your backpack incase you run out of electricity or power, or you are stranded somewhere,” Salgado said.
The Emergency Expo will offer more than 60 exhibitors with products, services and information on emergency prevention, preparedness, survival and recovery on Saturday as well as drills, demonstrations and emergency vehicles and equipment.
