After the students participated in their Halloween costume contest, the teachers broke out in a zombie flash mob, dancing to Backstreet Boys “Backstreet’s Back” and Michael Jackson’s popular “Thriller.”

Robert Isquierdo Jr., an English Teacher at Sierra Vista, organized the event and was excited to bring this to the students.

Zombie BrideAlthough I am organizing this event, it takes up to 40 different staff members to dedicate their time and abilities to make this flash mob work,” Isquierdo said. “It is a collaborative effort that will make us closer than just simply co-workers. A community nurtures collaboration through familiarity and trust which ultimately benefits everyone, especially our students.”

Isquierdo wanted to involve the teachers and the students to create a strong bond where people are proud of coming to this school.

For our students it sends a message that we are more than just their teachers. We can be spirited, fun, and entertaining as well,” he said. “It also shows that we are willing to go the extra mile to put a smile on  their faces. Ultimately this will create a strong sense of pride in our Sierra Vista community.

Students gathered around in awe watching their teachers and staff put on creepy dance moves in a Halloween themed performance.

Isquierdo choreographed the event and created a funny video of an interview with his alter ego, “Delicious” to give students and parents a look behind the scenes.

The staff also performed the Halloween zombie flash mob dance at the Valencia Mall on Oct. 26 for the community to enjoy.

The flash mob idea came from last year’s Breast Cancer Awareness mob which included a participant who was a breast cancer survivor.

Last year’s support for Breast Cancer Awareness along with the trending “Gangnam Style” dance was a success that generated a lot of positive feedback from the students.

The response from last year’s flash mob inspired the zombie Halloween theme for this year.
