Director Bob Babko and the Golden Oak Adult Jazz Band will present the final live performance of “A Jazz Prelude to Summer.”
It will be the final installment of the concert series before summer break and features a wide variety of popular tunes, according to Gail Pinsker, Hart District spokeswoman.
“This is the end of the band’s second season. So far, they have performed three times at West Ranch High School and they played at a Santa Monica venue and restaurant called Typhoon this year,” said Ron Rudzinski, Golden Oak Adult School principal.
“Their musical style ranges from avant-garde jazz to rock. For example, (Friday’s) performance will feature a jazz version of ‘The Star- Spangled Banner,’ The Beatles’ ‘Blackbird,’ Stan Kenton’s ‘The Big Chase’ and Buddy Rich’s ‘Channel One Suite,’” according to his statement.
The Golden Oak Jazz Band features members ranging from 19 to 60 years old, which includes vocals and is a 17-to-18 piece ensemble with local professional adult musicians, school band directors and other talented musicians.
The proceeds will help Golden Oak Jazz Band continue to provide performances for the Santa Clarita Valley community.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors and are available at the door or call 661-259-0033 extension 444 for will call.
It will be held Friday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. and take place at the West Ranch High Theater at 26255 Valencia Blvd., in Santa Clarita.
