George Runner Hosts Ribbon Cutting At Santa Clarita Tax Office

George Runner, representative of District 2 for the California’s Board of Equalization, is welcoming Santa Clarita Valley residents to a ribbon cutting for a new Santa Clarita location fot the BOE’s office.

The state’s Board of Equalization announced the opening of the new office in Santa Clarita back in March.

At the new district office, or online, a person can get information about whether they need to obtain a permit, and how they do that, or what tax rate to use, and a host of other useful information for business owners and operators.

The office is located at 25360 Magic Mountain Parkway, Suite 330. The phone number to the Santa Clarita district office for the Board of Equalization is 661-222-6000.

Residents are invited to take part in a ceremony to celebrate the pening Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Board of Equalization wants to make doing business in California as easy as possible, according to the board’s website.

The Taxpayer Service Center is expected to serve approximately 41,000 accounts.

These account holders are business owners who operate clothing stores, restaurants, gasoline stations and other retailers.

In 2012, Santa Clarita had more than $2.7 billion in taxable sales, an increase of 6.3 percent from the previous year. Since 2011, the Santa Clarita Valley has gained 5,500 new jobs[1]

The 22,005 square foot office features self-service computer kiosks that enable customers to conveniently register for a permit or license, file a return, and make a payment.

Some of the popular topics listed on the BOE website include: “latest sales and use tax rates,” all sales and use tax rates, sales and use tax electronic filing help, sales and use tax, online services login, file a return (for businesses) and online services.

Additional information is available on the tax rules for specific business, types of sales, or charges associated with sales for a number of businesses.

The regulations relating to sales and use tax are also available.
