The Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library is holding it’s first annual gingerbread house contest the first weekend of December with winners announced at the Valencia Library and Old Town Newhall’s Literaracy and Arts Festival Dec. 7.

Get a head start on holiday cheer with a family friendly activity.
The contest is free to enter and open to all ages. Categories include kids 10 and under, teens from 11-17, adult, family or group, and professional.
Pre-registration is required to be completed and returned to any Santa Clarita Public Library by Dec. 4. Entry forms can be downloaded from the Friends of the Library website.
Gingerbread house entries are due Dec. 6 at Valencia Library and will be on public display from Dec. 7 to Dec. 8.
First through third prizes will be awarded based on imagination, construction, uniformity in baking, and overall design.
There will also be a People’s Choice award in each category for the entry with the most votes garnered throughout the weekend.
Winners will be announced at the Valencia Library and at Old Town Newhall Library’s Literacy and Arts Festival on Dec. 7.
Construction on the Valencia Library parking lot recently added 27 parking spots to the lot, allowing more accessibility to events such as this gingerbread house contest.
