“The Friends organization is an invaluable part of the Santa Clarita Public Library,” said Mayor Bob Kellar. “Not only do Friends volunteers foster a positive relationship between the library and community, they also help promote reading and literacy while shaping the future of the Santa Clarita Public Library.”
The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library is an active group with 111 members. Since its inception, the Friends have brought in more than $60,000, helping the City develop and expand its library services and programs.
One of the group’s most successful efforts has been to raise funds for the annual Summer Reading Program. Other notable efforts supported by the Friends include sponsoring author events, adult and children programming, the 2012 Hobbit programming, The Old Town Newhall Grand Opening, the first birthday celebrations for the Santa Clarita Public Libraries and new technology.
