During her own treatment for breast cancer in 2007, Brenda sought an option to the standard-issue hospital gown. She bought a used sewing machine and had a friend teach her how to use it.
She created the Hug Wrap and since has sewn 600 of them, sending them across the United States and to Canada and Europe. Fellow patients love them and her nonprofit Hug Wraps was born.
What a difference a little color and comfort can make for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatments. Brenda visited the West Coast from her home in New Jersey and met with patients at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center’s Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center and gave them new wraps. Her goal is to give patients a lift – one that’s warm, comfortable and bright.
