“This is the first annual Touch-A-Truck event. It is sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center and our goal was to have an event to support the senior center but to make sure the families were involved,” said Rachelle Dardeau, executive director of the senior center.

Santa Clarita citizens of all ages came to touch, sit in and honk the horns of dozens of trucks.

“We wanted to have a family friendly fundraiser,” Dardeau said. “That’s what this is about. We’re getting a lot of good feedback and this will not be our last event.”

Some of the vehicles featured were fire trucks, a hazardous materials truck, an ambulance, police cars, waste management trucks and construction vehicles.

Food trucks, music and other exhibitors entertained guests and a dump truck even dumped beach balls out for all the kids.

“I am very excited to be able to participate in an intergenerational event like this,“ said SuzAnn Nelson, supportive services director for the SCV Senior Center.

All of the funds raised at this event will benefit the SCV Senior Center, whose mission is to keep seniors as independent and healthy.

“We are grateful for all of the people who came out to see the organizations that put their vehicles out here,” Dardeau said.
