Fire Station On Golden Valley Road Opens On Friday

The Santa Clarita Valley welcomed its fifth new fire station since 2006 Friday, with a small ceremony.

Located at 19190 Golden Valley Road, the new station houses nine firefighters, three battalion chiefs and an assistant chief, said Stephanie English, spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“It also houses the hazardous material squad, and firefighters there are specially trained in hazardous material,” English said. “This includes railroad incidents and chemical spills but they will also respond to everyday emergencies.”

Several new fire stations were approved as a result of anticipated population growth concluded after a 2006 study the LA fire department and Santa Clarita did, English said. These stations include 108, 156, 132, 128 and the opening of 150 today, making 16 total.

Two more stations have been slated, but there are no immediate plans for construction at the moment, English added.

An opening ceremony open to the public will soon be announced, and will take place late March or early April, she said.

“It will include the fire chief, executive team, political representatives and acknowledgements of the LA County Fire Department and the new station, that will continue to serve the community,” English said.
