The call went out at 9:18 a.m.

A helicopter responded to the scene at about 10:10 a.m. and transported the hiker to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

English said that he may have been in his mid-20s and had reportedly been in the canyon since Sunday.

“He potentially fell up to 100 feet,” English said.

But when the helicopter rescued him, he was 40 feet below the trail.

The hiker was dehydrated and appeared to suffer scratches, but the extent of his injuries are not known at this point, according to English.
