Circle Of Hope “Vine 2 Wine” Circle of Hope hosts Vine 2 Wine

When:  Saturday, August 16 from 6:30-10:30pm
Where:  California Institute of the Arts, 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia

Center Of The World – COW Festival

When: Friday, August 15 from 7:30pm-10pm; Saturday, August 16 from 1:30pm-7:30pm; Sunday, August 17 from 1pm-5pm
Where:  Pine Mountain Village, I-5 north, exit Frazier Park/Mt Pinos, signs will be posted; see website for actual directions
Details:  The 6th Annual Center of the World COW Festival will again be offering “celebration and competition” with folklore storytelling, short plays, and live music.  Friday brings the Opening Ceremonies, story-tellers, nature enthusiasts and others “bringing Native American legends, folklore, and info on local ecology and points of interest.”  Saturday is the Playwright Competition.  Sunday is Music, Songwriting Competition, Awards, and Closing Ceremonies.  In addition there will be guided nature walks on local trails.  Read more in an article on the KHTS website:  CoW Festival Officials Offer $500 Grant For Art Submissions.  More information, directions, and schedule are available online

Antelope Valley Fair & Alfalfa FestivalAntelope Valley Fair

When:  Friday, August 15 through Sunday, August 24
Where:  Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, 2551 W. Avenue H, Lancaster – see map and directions on website
Details:  The 76th Annual Antelope Valley Fair & Alfalfa Festival is back.  The carnival section has a wide variety of thrill rides, games and a Kid Zone.  There will be a wide choice of fair food.  The Concert Stage will have free concerts featuring tribute bands and evening concerts featuring Kool & The Gang with The Commodores; Sublime w/ Rome; Montgomery Gentry; and Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Check out the Figure 8 Race, Monster Trucks and Demo Derby.  The traditional Alfalfa Festival events are represented with livestock exhibits, Miss AV and her court, and Home Art Demonstrations of jewelry, cupcake decorating, and cheesecake and pie baking.  KHTS is giving away tickets to concerts and general admission on our Facebook page.   More information, concert schedules, ticket information, tickets, directions and more are available online

City Of Santa Clarita “River Rally T-Shirt Art Design Contest”

Details:  To celebrate the 20th annual River Rally, the City is inviting students K-6 grades to submit an art design that may be selected as the artwork printed on this year’s t-shirts for the event. Submissions are to be sent via email by August 22. City Of Santa Clarita “Let’s Go To The Beach”

Details:  Grab your towel and sunscreen and had out to Santa Monica Beach, the easy way.  The City of Santa Clarita is again offering rides on air-conditioned commuter express buses.  Travelers can bring their beach chair, coolers and even surfboards.  Summer Beach Bus fares are $3 each way for children and adults, and $1.50 each way for Seniors and persons with disabilities.  Exact cash fares or TAP stored value only – no monthly passes accepted.  Those under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.  Unaccompanied minors must bring valid school identification.  More information on routes and pickup locations, RSVP for large groups, bus etiquette, and more is available by calling 661-294-1BUS or online

City Of Santa Clarita “Pills Kill” Symposium
When:  Wednesday, August 27 beginning at 6pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Activities Center, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, near Golden Valley 
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita are hosting “Pills Kill: Prescription To Addiction” Symposium.  Prescription dug abuse has become a national epidemic.  Prescription drugs are a gateway to other drugs. Youth Sports JetHawks Day
When: Saturday, August 30 at 6 p.m.
Where: JetHawks Stadium “The Hanger”, 45116 Valley Central Way, Lancaster
Details: The City of Santa Clarita  and the Lancaster JetHawks  will be holding their 3rd Annual Youth Sports JetHawks Day. Tickets are $8 for Preferred Grandstand, $13 for Preferred Grandstand AND Sleepover. Each ticket purchased will be eligible for a raffle drawing to throw out the game’s first pitch.  Drawing for the first pitch will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 4:00 p.m. at the Youth Sports and Healthy Families Festival and the last day to purchase tickets is August 29th.
