Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center

When: Saturday, September 6 at 8pm, doors open at 7pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road – on the COC Valencia campus
Details:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center has the comedian, author and humorist “Paula Poundstone.”  Listen to a podcast of an interview on KHTS with Morning Man George Cummings and Paula Poundstone.  Her wry, intelligent comedy means “you can count on an evening of some serious funny business.”  More information and tickets are available by calling 661-362-5310 or online.  

Kid-Co Play and LearnKid-Co Play & Learn Center “Grand Opening”

When: Saturday, September 6 from 10am-noon
Where:  Kid-Co Play & Learn Center, 26529 Carl Boyer Drive, in the same shopping center as Babies “R” Us
Details: Kid-Co Play & Learn is a one of a kind indoor play area that provides children the opportunity to unleash their imagination through pretend play.  Kid-Co is holding their Grand Opening.  Admission is free.  The first 87 people in line can play from 10am-noon for free.  There will be entertainment, crafts, photo booth, games and raffles.  Specials will be offered during the Grand Opening.  More information about Kid-Co Play & Learn Center and their “Grand Opening” is available by calling 661-253-2277 or online.

Valencia United Methodist Church “Block Party” 

When:  Sunday, September 7 from 4:30pm-7:30pm
Where:  Valencia United Methodist Church, 25718 McBean Parkway, across from Henry Mayo Hospital
Details:  Valencia United Methodist Church is hosting a free family fun “Block Party.”  There will be live music, a photo booth, door prizes, and food.  Join in on the fun activities for all ages: a giant water slide, rock climbing wall, carnival games, and pie-eating contest.  More information is available by calling 255-1301 or online.  

HandsOn Santa Clarita 9/11 Day Of Service & Night Of Remembrance HandsOn Santa Clarita

When: Thursday, September 11, see times below
Where:  Day of Service at either the VFW in Canyon Country or American Legion in Newhall; Commemorative Ceremony at Westfield Valencia Town Center in the mall roundabout
Details: HandsOn Santa Clarita is again honoring those who died in the attacks on 9/11 with a Day of Service and a Night of Remembrance.  The Day of Service allows us the opportunity to volunteer time for projects at the local VFW or American Legion.  The Commemorative Ceremony invites us all to come to this family friendly ceremony.  Come as early at 5pm for the evening ceremony to take part in the family activities.  Meet local first responders and military.  Food will be on sale and exhibitors will have displays.  More information and volunteer sign-ups are available by calling 661-257-1997 or online

Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center “Travis Brass”   

When:  Friday, September 5 at 8pm, doors open at 7pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road – on the COC Valencia campus
Details: Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center “Travis Brass.”  “Be prepared to snap to attention and salute the toe-tapping style and humor of Travis Brass – the premiere ensemble of the United State Air Force Band of the Golden West.”  They play standard marches, traditional brass, jazz, ragtime and modern. Green Thumb International “Halloween Opening”

When:  Saturday, September 6 starting at 9am

Details: Green Thumb International is holding their famous “Halloween Opening.”  If you haven’t seen Green Thumb’s Halloween display you are missing an important part of the upcoming Holiday season.  Green Thumb takes Halloween very seriously in a ghoulishly delightful way.  Grab the kids and start thinking Fall and Halloween.

City Of Santa Clarita “Youth Grove Evening Of Remembrance” & “Walk Of Remembrance”

When:  Wednesday, September 10 at 7:15pm
Where:  Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road 
Details:  The City of Santa Clarita is hosting the annual “Youth Grove Evening of Remembrance” & “Walk of Remembrance”, “This event focuses on teen driving safety and remembers local youth who lost their lives on our streets.”  New this year is the “Walk of Remembrance”. SCV Historical Society “Heritage Junction Outdoor Marketplace” SCV Historical Society

When:  first weekend of every month starting September 6 & 7 from 10am-4pm
Where:  Heritage Junction at the east end of Hart Park
Details: The SCV Historical Society is offering us a unique monthly experience with “Heritage Junction Outdoor Marketplace.”  You know Heritage Junction as the headquarters of the SCV Historical Society and historic buildings from the 1800s including the Saugus Train Station with its museum with photos and artifacts.  The Marketplace will offer a mixture of items from local artisans, crafters and small businesses.  There will be handmade arts & crafts, clothing, art, home décor, furniture, wood art & carvings, and metal art.  Also offered will be soaps, candles, jewelry, pottery & ceramics, and food items.  Each month will have a theme starting September with Latino Heritage Month, then Oktoberfest, Day of the Dead, and a Charlie Brown Christmas Party.  The Marketplace will have food trucks and a beer & wine garden at their special events.  Admission and parking are free.  More information is available by calling 661-418-771 or email SCVJunction@gmail.com or online

St. Clare’s “Raise Your Glass For Charity”

Where:  St Clare’s of Assisi Catholic Church, 19606 Calla Way, Canyon Country
Details: St. Clare’s is hosting their “Raise Your Glass for Charity” fundraiser.  The event features local beers, wines, and food.  There will be a wonderful variety of desserts.   General Admission is $30 with entry at 5pm.  VIP Admission is sold out.  Live onstage will be Old Time Radio Adventures.  Take part in the Raffles and Drops.  More information and tickets are available online

When:  Saturday, September 13 at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 14 at 2pm

Details:  The Santa Clarita Ballet has the production “Beauty and the Beast.”  “Beauty and the Beast” tells the romantic tale of a devoted daughter who lives with a hideous Beast to spare her father’s life.  But of course, love conquers all, Beauty’s trust and fondness grows, and the Beast’s cure is removed.  Santa Clarita Ballet company members and guest professional dancers will perform to the impressionistic themes of composers Ravel, Debussy and Faure.  Tickets are now on sale through Santa Clarita Ballet by coming into the studio on Oak Avenue during Box Office Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3-6pm; Wednesday from 4-6pm; and Saturday from 9:30am-1:30pm.  You may also call 661-251-0366 and leave a message and your call will be returned.  Learn more about Santa Clarita Ballet and tickets online

Michael Hoefflin Foundation “Evening Under The Stars” 
When:  Saturday, September 13 starting at 6pm
Where:  Robinson Ranch on the 18th Hole, 27734 Sand Canyon
Details:  The Michael Hoefflin Foundation “Evening Under The Stars Benefitting Kids With Cancer” is back with a hole new look and location.  The evening will feature the Bella Circo performance called “La Galleria.”  This acrobatic troupe has aerial acts similar to Cirque du Soleil performances.  There will be dinner, live auction and silent auction.  More information and tickets for “Evening Under The Stars” are available by calling 250-4100 or online
