Santa Clarita Ballet “Beauty And The Beast” Santa Clarita Ballet presents Beauty And The Beast

When:  Saturday, September 13 at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 14 at 2pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the COC Valencia Campus, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia 
Details:  The Santa Clarita Ballet has the production “Beauty and the Beast.”  “Beauty and the Beast” tells the romantic tale of a devoted daughter who lives with a hideous Beast to spare her father’s life.  But of course, love conquers all, Beauty’s trust and fondness grows, and the Beast’s curse is removed.  Santa Clarita Ballet company members and guest professional dancers will perform to the impressionistic themes of composers Ravel, Debussy and Faure.  Tickets are now on sale through Santa Clarita Ballet by coming into the studio on Oak Avenue during Box Office Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3-6pm; Wednesday from 4-6pm; and Saturday from 9:30am-1:30pm.  You may also call 661-251-0366 and leave a message and your call will be returned.  Learn more about Santa Clarita Ballet and tickets online

GraceFest AV 2014

When:  Friday, September 12th from 5pm-8pm (gates open at 4pm) and Saturday, September 13th from 11am-10pm
When:  Palmdale Amphitheater, 2723 Rancho Vista Boulevard, Palmdale
Details:  GraceFest AV is a family event featuring national and local Christian artists, merchants, vendors, kid’s games, a youth performance stage, concessionaires, interactive arts, speakers, 3 performance stages and more.  Read more in a story on the KHTS website: Seventh Annual GraceFest AV To Return Sep. 12 and 13. This year’s featured speaker is nationally recognized Evangelist Tom Henderson from Compassion International. Friday features the Prayer Rally from 5pm-8pm and features local pastors and The Outsiders band.  Admission is free to Friday’s events.  Saturday’s main event features four national Christian artists including Francesca Battiselli, Mark Schults, Adio Adrenaline, and Plumb. The event opens with a special Tribes and Nations ceremony.  Local artists featured: Reflections Fall, Westside Christian Fellowship Band, Jim Gustin & Truth Jones, John Stratton and The Highlands Worship Band and Tatia.  The youth performance stage at “The Zone” begins at 11:30am.  The youth stage headliner features a hometown celebrity, Adam Jaymes a contestant on the ABC show Rising Star.  More information, directions, and tickets are available online.

9/11 Day Of Service & Night Of Remembrance

When: Thursday, September 11, see times below 
Where:  Day of Service at either the VFW in Canyon Country or American Legion in Newhall; Commemorative Ceremony at Westfield Valencia Town Center in the mall roundabout
Details: HandsOn Santa Clarita is again honoring those who died in the attacks on 9/11 with a Day of Service and a Night of Remembrance.  The Day of Service allows us the opportunity to volunteer time for projects at the local VFW or American Legion.  Volunteer to work from 8:30am-noon.  The Commemorative Ceremony start at 7pm.  This tribute is a family friendly ceremony.  The evening ceremony event starts at 5pm with family friendly activities. Michael Hoefflin FoundationMichael Hoefflin Foundation “Evening Under The Stars” 

When:  Saturday, September 13 starting at 6pm
Where:  Robinson Ranch on the 18th Hole, 27734 Sand Canyon
Details:  The Michael Hoefflin Foundation “Evening Under The Stars Benefitting Kids With Cancer” is back with a hole new look and location.  The evening will feature the Bella Circo performance called “La Galleria.”  This acrobatic troupe has aerial acts similar to Cirque du Soleil performances.  There will be dinner, live auction and silent auction.  More information and tickets for “Evening Under The Stars” are available by calling 250-4100 or online

Prayer Angels “Operation Thank Our Troops”

When: Saturday, September 13 from noon-2pm
Where:   Old Town Newhall Library, 24500 Main Street, Newhall

Beatles Gold 2 To Benefit The SCV Senior Center

When:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway
Where:  Sunday, September 14 from 5pm-10:30pm
Details:  Beatles Gold 2 is back to benefit the SCV Senior Center.  This live concert features the Sgt. Peppers Beatles Tribute Band.  The evening includes dinner and dancing, silent auction, plus a Beatles inspired art show. Guest performers are Brendon Sibley and Sheila Colby. Fast Frame Valencia “Artist Of The Month Reception”

Details:  Fast Frame Valencia’s is committed to sharing art with the Santa Clarita Valley by featuring “Artist of the Month” exhibits and receptions.  This month’s artist is Paula Svitak-Bradley.  “Her passions are painting horses, dragons, fairies and all things sweet and magical. College Of The Canyons “Family Movie Night”

When:  Saturday, September 13, fun starts at 6pm, movie at 7:30pm
Where:  College of the Canyons Valencia Campus, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia – in the Honor Grove.
Details:  College of the Canyons is celebrating their 45th Anniversary with a series of events.  This weekend is a free community picnic and screening of the classic Walt Disney movie “The Love Bug.”  This event is free and open to the community, students, employees, alumni and friends.  Pack a picnic and gather at 6pm.  Children’s activities start at 6pm.  The movie screening starts at 7:30pm.  Bring blankets and chairs.  More information is available online.  

Castaic Lake Water Agency “Landscape Problem Solver” Workshop

When:  Saturday, August 16 from 9am-12 noon
Where:  Castaic Lake Water Agency, 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road, above Central Park
Details:  Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA) holds community workshops to help us with our yards and gardens.  This month’s workshop is “The Landscape Problem Solver: Dealing With Weeds, Pests and Diseases.”    Learn more about gardening and conservation at the CLWA workshops.  More information is available by calling 297-1600 or online and registration is available online.  

SEB Mud Run

When: Sunday, September 14, registration begins at 6:30am, race begins at 9am 
Where:  Pitchess Equestrian Center, 26893 Tapia Canyon, Castaic
Details:  The 19th Annual SEB Mud Run will be a four mile fun course with a six-plus mile Challenge course.  There will also be a one-mile Mud Run for kids 12 years and under.  This event is held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department S.W.A.T. Team.  This event is open to the public.  There will be a kid’s zone, vendors, music, and food.  More information is available online.  

SCV Senior Center “Golf Classic”

When:  Monday, September 15, registration starts at 7:30am
Where:  TCP Valencia, 26550 Heritage View Lane, Stevenson Ranch
Details:  Spending the day playing golf to benefit the SCV Senior Center with their “Golf Classic.”  There will be games all along the course with prize give-aways including a new Odyssey putter.  Golfers have a chance to win $10,000 in the putting contest and a new Nissan Sentra of the hole-in-one contest.  In part, proceeds will pay for in-home visits, meals, and Alzheimer’s care for the 10,000 seniors that the SCV Senior Center serves.  More information about the Golf Classic is available by calling 661-259-9444 or email admin@scv-seniorcenter.org

Details: The SCV Youth Project is holding their 3rd Annual “Comics For The Cause” charity event.  Annabell Gurwitch, author of I See You Made An Effort will take on Master of Ceremonies duties.  The evening features comedy from Cathy Ladman from HBO, The Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and The Tonight Show;  Ahmed Ahmed of Sullivan & Son, Weeds, Swingers and Iron Man; and Bryan Callen of MADtv, Chelsea Lately, and Letterman.  More information on the event and the SCV Youth Project, plus tickets are available by calling 661-257-9688 (257-youth) or online.   

SCV Music Festival
When:  Friday, September 26 doors opening at 6pm; Saturday, September 27 opening at noon
Where: Valencia Country Club, 27330 Tourney Road, Valencia
Details:  The SCV Music Festival is ready to start the music playing in Santa Clarita. “The SCV Music Festival showcases renowned national and international recording artists, bringing a topnotch musical festival experience to the SCV.”  Headliner for Friday is country music artist Aaron Tippin.  His debut single, “You’ve Got to Stand For Something” and his many trips to Iraq and Afghanistan has cemented his standing with country music fans and the U.S. military.  Headliner for Saturday is Blue Oyster Cult is an American rock band known for their hard rock and heavy metal songs.  The SCV Music Festival will be held outdoors, rain-or-shine.  Read more on the KHTS website: Fifth Annual Santa Clarita Music Festival Returning To Valencia. More information and tickets are available online.  

Save Your Photos Day
When:  Saturday, September 27 from 10am-noon
Where:  Valencia Public Library, 3743 W. Valencia Boulevard
Details:  You can learn how to protect your photos and films at Save Your Photos Day.  This is a free community event.  Learn how to protect you photos before disaster strikes.  Bring 50 of your favorite photos for a free photo scan.  Bring your home movies to learn how to create back-up copies and a digital master.
