Santa Clarita Valley Family YMCA Raises Awareness With Open House
Santa Clarita Valley Family YMCA officials hosted an open house at their Valencia facility on Saturday to raise awareness about the programs and services available to SCV residents.
Approximately 300 residents were expected to stop by throughout the day to visit the facility, where informational stations were set up outside to help people learn about a variety of programs, along with a children’s bounce house and Kona Ice truck.

"We offer so many programs, from before- and after-school programs to healthy lifestyle,” said Gwen Bagley, SCV YMCA’s executive director. “We just want people to be able to see all that the ‘Y’ has to offer and raise awareness that the ‘Y’ is here in their community to serve them.”

Available programs include healthy lifestyles with a focus on preventative health, before- and after-school, teen leadership, aquatics, a parent/child adventure guide program and more.
About $100,000 of the SCV YMCA's annual budget goes toward financial assistance to residents who might not be able to afford memberships, she said.
SCV YMCA is currently a part of seven schools throughout the community and serves about 5,000 people per year.
“We have people of all ages,” Bagley said. “So we have parents with young children, we have active older adults, we have teens… So it really is an organization that is designed to serve all ages, which we’re excited about.”
