City Looking For Volunteers For The Youth Sports And Healthy Families Festival
Santa Clarita officials are looking for volunteers to participate in the sixth annual Youth Sports and Healthy Families Festival slated for Aug. 23.
Due to the public's request, officials have extended the hours of this year's festival and are looking for volunteers to participate in the event. People interested may sign up on the city's website.
The festival is a way for families to experience a day where they can have fun while also accomplishing it in a healthy and active manner. The event goals are to engage and keep Santa Clarita residents healthy, active and happy.

The Youth Sports and Healthy Families Festival is free to attend and all families are welcome. Attendees can expect a wide array of activities, such as water games, food, a raffle, stage performances, activities of different sports, rock climbing, bungee jumping, skateboarding and many more.
Volunteers are expected to help organize participants, gather materials and maintain a safe atmosphere. They will also help at various festival activity areas/zones, including:
Aquatics Area – Help Lifeguards prepare participants to get in kayaks and on stand-up paddle boards. Assist with snorkeling and inner-tube water polo areas.
Healthy Families Experience Area – Assist with vendor booths and interactive indoor activities.
Healthy Fitness Area – Help guide interactive fitness activities in the gymnasium.
Information Booth – Assist with information distribution and official event raffle.
Sports – Main Field Area – Help with various sporting games, including football toss, homerun derby, soccer, golf and much more.
Sports – Upper Area – Help with basketball, tennis, archery and volleyball activities. Help organize participants, gather materials, and maintain a safe atmosphere.
Tricycle Area –Give out helmets and helmet liners to participants, maintain the tricycle course and help riders who are stuck or need assistance with tricycles.
Volunteer Booth – Assist staff with information distribution, check-in and other duties as assigned
The event is set for the Santa Clarita Sports Complex from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
