The Sunny Solution To America’s Growing Energy Demand

Americans are using more power than ever before. As a result, we are in danger of overworking the electric grid, one of the country’s most vital systems.

Power companies across the nation use aging technology to provide homeowners and businesses with access to electricity 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Increased demand on the grid results in more frequent power outages and rising electricity costs.

Simply fixing the existing grid infrastructure when it fails is not a sustainable solution to the problem need to replace the current systems with new and improved technology, designed to meet the needs of today’s consumers.

In the meantime, many home and business owners are going solar, reducing both their electric bills and the strain on the nation’s power grid. In fact, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), there are enough solar panels installed in the US today to replace roughly five coal-fueled power plants.

Powering a home or business with solar is achievable by more people than ever today, thanks to a variety of financing options, from purchasing a system outright to leasing a system for little to no upfront cost.  Some owners who purchased solar systems are seeing payback in as little as five years.

Plus, new technologies are being developed now that are designed to allow solar energy system owners to continue to use power generated by their systems during a utility power outage.

SunPower by Green Convergence’s President D.J. Schramm believes that solar energy is the solution to increased energy demand. “As more homes convert to solar, less electricity is needed to be directed from power plants to individual residences.

This decrease in electrical demand from the grid should help power companies increase grid reliability and avoid constructing new power plants, resulting in more dependable service and lower energy bills for everyone. ”

It seems those going solar are the heroes of America’s power conundrum—preserving the electrical grid while saving everyone money.
