"I'm excited for this opportunity to continue providing Hart District students with delicious and nutritious meals,” Babinski said in a Hart district news release. “The fantastic staff, district support and receptive students make this an encouraging environment."
The Hart district oversees approximately 22,000 public junior high and high school students in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Babinski's promotion takes effect July 2014.
Babinski will replace LeeAnne Frame, who announced her retirement after working for the district for 40 years.
Babinski moves into the position having served as assistant director for the past three years. The Hart district contracts with Chartwells, which serves more than 2.5 million students daily in over 500 school districts, according to the company’s website.
After graduating from Saugus High School, Babinski went on to study at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, earning a degree in patisserie and baking.
She is currently enrolled in Penn State University seeking a degree in business management.
Babinski is also involved in the California School Nutrition Association and has taken many classes with the California Department of Education to ready her for the director’s position.
