Domestic Violence Center Of Santa Clarita Valley Awarded $50,000

S. Mark Taper Foundation Awards $50,000 Grant to Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley

Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley The S. Mark Taper Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant in support of the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley.

When families and individuals meet the advocates at the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley, they are typically meeting them during one of the worst times in their lives.

The survivors that walk through the doors of the DVC have generally experienced emotional, sexual, and/or physical abuse. Every year, 1 in 3 female homicide victims are killed at the hands of their current or former partner. One in 4 women will experience domestic violence during their lifetime. Women are victims of more than 4 million physical assaults and rapes because of their partners, and men are victims of nearly 3 million physical assaults. With statistics like this, it is safe to say that domestic violence is a rampant, and ever increasing, issue that plagues the world around us, including Santa Clarita Valley.

The S.Mark Taper Foundation grant will help support the important services that the DVC offers to victims of intimate partner violence. “We are so grateful to have this wonderful foundation paying attention to the victims of domestic violence in our valley. The S. Mark Taper Foundation is being so generous with funds that keep our work vital in the community.”  Stated Linda Davies the Executive Director of the DVC.
