Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are investigating a Newhall stabbing that took place around 12:50 a.m. Saturday outside the VU Bar and Lounge, officials said.

Officials with the District Attorney’s Office dismissed the charges against a man who was initially identified as a suspect in the stabbing of two men outside of The VU Bar and Lounge.
A courtroom official confirmed prosecutors dropped assault with a deadly weapon charges against Robert Arvizu, 47, of Newhall on Tuesday morning.
Arvizu was arrested shortly after a pair of stabbings that took place following an altercation in a parking lot near the bar.

The victims, whose names were not released Sheriff’s Station officials, were taken to the hospital with wounds that were not life-threatening, said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.
An alleged fight within the VU, involving a group of people, spilled out onto the street and ended with the stabbing, officials said. Alcohol was involved in the incident.
Arvizu was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, a felony charge, at 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Sheriff’s Station arrest records.
Arvizu’s bail was initially listed at $120,000 bail, and then $1 million. However, he was released at 9 a.m. Tuesday shortly after his initial arraignmen, according to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department Information Center website.
