Two Arrested After DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Clarita Station arrested multiple people at a DUI/Driver’s license checkpoint Friday night. 
 
One motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and another arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana at the checkpoint, located on Railroad Avenue north of Oak Ridge Drive between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.
 
Two unlicensed drivers were also arrested and three vehicles were impounded for 30 days, one vehicle impounded for one day, according to the news release.

This DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint lowers DUI deaths and injuries. A major component of these checkpoints is the deterrent effects it has on those who might drive drunk or drugged impaired bring about more awareness and encouraging everyone to use sober designated drivers.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies, while also yielding considerable cost savings of $6 for every $1 spent.
