A Castaic woman pleaded not guilty in the murder of her father, officials said Thursday.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are investigating two Santa Clarita cellphone store burglaries and asking for the public’s help in identifying their suspects.

One man was killed and a woman is in critical condition after two pedestrians were struck by a Toyota Camry in Canyon Country, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials said Tuesday. 

Detectives announced two arrests in connection with the SCV Purge, which involves allegations that child pornography was distributed by two Santa Clarita Valley high school students. The arrests were made by the Special Victims Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department. Hart district officials confirmed two Saugus High students were arrested off campus Sept. 11  on charges they posted “inappropriate photos.”

A federal judge sentenced a Valencia man found guilty of witness tampering in an FBI investigation to 41 months in prison Monday, officials said. Lt. Stephen Leavins, 52, of Valencia, was facing a statutory maximum of 15 years in federal prison, along with his five co-defendants.

A Valencia man was arrested after residents of a Valencia Summit neighborhood reported seeing a man running naked in the streets, according to Sheriff’s Station officials. Deputies received a call to the 25800 block of Bellis Drive around 6:40 a.m. Friday, said Sgt. Sam Soehnel of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. He was arrested at 6:45 a.m.

Crime Reports

KHTS publishes crime reports in alphabetical order by community as they are made available.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Canyon Country West, Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.

Canyon Country East

An assault occurred at the College of the Canyons, Canyon Country Campus. A student was upset over his vehicle being towed. The suspect got into the driver’s seat of another vehicle attempted to run over a campus safety officer. The suspect was subsequently arrested for the assault.

A residential burglary was reported near the 27600 block if Spencer Court.  This incident occurred on 09-19-14 between 1200pm and 3:30pm. The victim believes the suspect made entry through his patio door which he left open. The suspects stole an Apple MacBook Pro computer and a black iPhone 4S.

There was a residential burglary reported near the 17500 block of Harris Way.  In this incident the suspect made entry through the garage door possibly by using the exterior code panel. The suspect stole car keys and the garage door remote control.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 27300 block of Fahren Court. This incident occurred on 09-15-14 between 7:00pm and 12:00am.  The suspect broke the windshield to make entry to the vehicle.  The suspect stole several car stereo items.

A mail theft occurred near the 18000 block of Flynn Dr. The victim ordered shoes from Payless Shoes.  They were delivered to her front porch on 09-12-14. An unknown suspect stole the shoes from her front porch.

There was a grand theft reported near the 15600 block of Lucille Court. The victims Apple MacBook computer was taken from his bedroom.

A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2008 Honda Element.  This incident occurred on Grandifloras Road between 09/17/14-09/18/14.

Canyon Country West

This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

A residential burglary occurred near the 20200 block of Stevie Court.  An unknown suspect entered the victims locked garage and stole numerous items from within.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A burglary to a vehicle occurred near the 27900 block of Ashbro Drive.  An unknown suspect entered the victims locked vehicle and stole approximately 17 different high dollar items from within.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A shoplift occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive.  Loss prevention detained a suspect after attempting to flee the location with store property.  Deputies responded and arrested the suspect.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/Val Verde

Deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 2800 block of Rainier. The suspect, a parolee, was arrested on assault charges as well as possession of a firearm.    

An assault call was reported from the 29000 block of Verdale Road.  The caller stated several people fighting in the street and one gun shot was heard.  Responding deputies recovered one 22 caliber shell at the scene and arrested one suspect for possession of cocaine.

A commercial burglary was reported from the 31000 block of Castaic Road.  Suspects gained entry to the empty Rite Aid building through the rear trash chute.  Several offices were ransacked and computer components and prescription drugs were taken.

A bicycle theft was reported from 30000 block of San Martinez.  The victim left his black framed “Fit” BF-1 bicycle at the front of the local store while he shopped.  When he exited the store his bike was missing.

A theft was reported from the 29000 block of Cambridge Avenue.  The victim left several electronic items next to his trash cans on the side of his house while cleaning his garage.  The victim left for lunch and when he returned all the items were gone.  The victim believes whomever took the items thought they might have been left out for the trash.

Two vehicles were reported stolen from the 27000 block of Ferguson Drive.  A yellow 1996 Suzuki MX-250 motorcycle and a white 1989 Toyota truck where both stolen between 3:00 and 11:00 p.m. on Thursday the 18th.

Newhall

A burglary occurred between Monday the 15th at 11:00 p.m., and Tuesday the 16that 4:00 a.m., in the 24900 block of Walnut Street.  The suspect entered through a window and took electronics.

On Friday the 19th, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., a garage was burglarized in the 21300 block of Ficus Drive. Video games and music CD’s were stolen.

Between Wednesday the 17th at 9:30 p.m., and Thursday the 18th at 12:00 p.m., a Chevy Suburban was burglarized in the 24300 block of La Glorita Circle.  A window was smashed to gain entry into the vehicle.  A seat and an “iPad” were stolen.

On Thursday the 18th, between 5:45 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., a vehicle was burglarized in the 24600 block of Wiley Canyon Road.  A window was smashed to get in and a lady’s purse was stolen.

Between Thursday the 18th at 9:00 p.m., and Friday the 19th at 5:00 p.m., a Chevy truck was burglarized in the 25000 block of Peachland Ave.  The suspect entered a rear window and took power tools.

A boys BMX “Thruster Slider” bicycle was stolen from the 23700 block of Via Canon between Saturday the 13th and Monday the 15th.

Saugus

A felony domestic violence occurred in the 19500 block of Loroda Lane on September 20th.  The victim was assaulted by her husband after an argument.  Deputies were called to the location where they took the suspect into custody without incident.

There was a theft from an unlocked vehicle reported in the 22500 block of Breakwater Way between September 14th and September 15th.  The victim discovered multiple items were stolen out of his center console of his unlocked vehicle overnight.

A petty theft was reported in the 27400 block of Seco Canyon Road on September 18th.  The victim reported that his son’s babysitter stole multiple children’s items when she was terminated from her position.  Detectives are following up on this incident.

Stevenson Ranch

A residential burglary occurred near the 25000 block of Hollyhock Circle. The victim left the roll-up garage door partially open over-night. The suspect took several miscellaneous tools.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 24900 block of Greensbrier Drive. The suspect entered the victim’s locked vehicle and took a stereo and other miscellaneous personal property.

A burglary occurred near the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road. An unknown suspect broke into the victim’s locker and took a duffle bag containing several personal items. The lock the suspect used to secure the locker was damaged.

A 2013 Yamaha YZF R1 motorcycle was taken near the 25300 block of The Old Road. The motorcycle was taken from an apartment complex.

An arson occurred near the 25800 block of Carroll Lane. Unknown suspects burned a hole in a plastic play set in the playground area of the location. The case is currently under investigation by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson investigators.

A shoplift/burglary occurred near the 25400 block of The Old Road. A male suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel after exiting the location, failing to pay for items. The suspect was arrested by responding Santa Clarita Station deputies.

Valencia

A robbery occurred near the 25800 block of Bellis Drive.  A female victim was walking to her car early in the morning.  The suspect approached the victim and yelled at her “Give me your keys”.  The victim, fearing for her safety, screamed and dropped her keys.   A man out for an early morning walk, heard the victims screams and turned around, to head back towards her.  As the man approached the victim, the suspect appeared out of the bushes, naked, and asked the adult male what just happened.  The suspect appeared incoherent and kept apologizing for what he did.  He was detained until patrol deputies arrived and could take him into custody.  If was later learned the suspect walked away from a medical facility after being treated for a mental condition.  The suspect was booked for robbery at Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

A residential burglary occurred near the 24000 block of Valencia Boulevard.   The victim returned home and noticed her front door had been pried open.  She entered her apartment and noticed numerous personal items missing.  A witness at the location saw a male white, 6’10”, wearing a black shirt and black pants, walking away from the location towards a delivery truck.         

An attempted Residential Burglary occurred near the 27800 block of Springtree Place.  The victim stated she returned home and noticed her downstairs window had been pushed wide open and the screen to her window was laying on the ground under the window.   She stated nothing was missing from inside her residence.

A vehicle theft occurred near the 26000 block of Avenue Hall.  Unknown Suspect(s) stole the victim’s 2001, Chevy Cargo van, white in color, California license number 6M66689.

A grand theft occurred near the 24200 block of Valencia Boulevard.   The victim was inside the location doing homework on her laptop.  She had her cell phone, purse and laptop on her desk.  She asked an unknown female to watch her stuff as she walked out to her car to grab an item.  When she returned, her purse and cell phone were gone.  She asked the unknown female if she saw anyone remove her items and she stated she did not.  No suspect information is available at this time.

This past week we had a total of seven shoplifting crimes occur in the Valencia area.  Out of the seven, we arrested five suspects from these incidents.  Each case is currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Valley Detective Bureau.
