Sheriff’s Crime Reports Include Drug Arrests, Robberies And Indecent Exposure

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials have released the crime reports for the week of Aug. 1 to Aug. 8

This week’s reports included the arrest of a man suspected of transporting 84 pounds of marijuana, an update on the theft of a part of Paul Walker’s Porsche, a report of an indecent exposure and deputies conducting a crosswalk safety operation.

Two men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of burglary Wednesday after allegedly attempting to steal a television from a home in Castaic, authorities said.

A Santa Cruz man suspected of transporting 84 pounds of pre-packaged marijuana was arrested in Castaic by California Highway Patrol officers at 8:47 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.

Two defendants pleaded no contest to stealing a vehicle part from the Porsche driven by Paul Walker in his fatal crash last November, officials said Wednesday.

Santa Clarita Crime Reports

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Canyon Country West, Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.

Canyon Country East Crime

A burglary was reported near the 18400 block of Jakes Way. In this incident the son of the victim broke into the location and stole car keys. He was later arrested by deputies.

There was a burglary reported near the 27600 block of Dagmar Way. The suspect(s) pried open the garage door open and stole 2 bikes and several tools. There was no suspect description.

Two males were arrested near the 27000 block of Rock Rose Lane. The two suspects broke into a vacant apartment and were stealing items from the property management company. The suspects were also in possession of narcotics.

Deputies conducting a patrol check on Sand Canyon Road saw a suspect who was stealing a back flow water valve. The deputies arrested the suspect and the case is being investigated by station detectives.

A shoplifting incident occurred at the 7-11 on the corner of Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road. The suspect ran into the store grabbed beer and then fled the location. The suspect was later arrested after he was involved in a fight behind the store.

Canyon Country West Crime

A residential burglary occurred near the 19300 block of Santa Maria Drive. The victim had her safe which contained numerous financial documents stolen from within her bedroom. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A petty theft occurred near the 19000 block of Newhouse Street. The victim fell asleep in her vehicle with her windows rolled down while parked in a business parking lot. While asleep, suspect(s) unknown reached into her vehicle and stole her “iPad” that she left laying on her passenger seat. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Two incidents of shoplifting occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive. In both incidents, the suspects entered the location and stole store items. The suspects in both incidents were arrested. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/ Val Verde Crime

Two men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of burglary Wednesday after allegedly attempting to steal a television from a home in Castaic, authorities said.

Newhall Crime

A burglary occurred in the 24400 block of Leonard Tree Lane on Wednesday the 30th, between 7:20 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. Entry into the residence was made by cutting a screen of an open window. Property stolen was electronics, jewelry, and cash.

A burglary occurred in the 20900 Judah Lane Tuesday the 29th, between 12:00 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. Stolen from the residence was jewelry, medication, and “Joy Mangano” luggage.

A Catalytic Converter was cut off a 2003 “Acura” in the 21300 block of Nandina Lane between Wednesday the 30th at 11:00 p.m., and Thursday the 31st at 7:00 a.m.

An “iPhone” was stolen from a shopping cart in the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue Saturday the 2nd. The phone had been left unattended briefly when it was stolen.

Saugus Crime

There were two residential burglaries reported over the past week. The first was in the 27900 block of Caraway Lane on July 25th. The victim discovered his garage had been burglarized and tools were stolen.

The second burglary occurred in the 28100 block of Seco Canyon Road between July 26th and 27th. The victim discovered his home had been burglarized and miscellaneous items had been taken. It is possible that the front window had been left unlocked prior to the burglary. Detectives are working both incidents.

An assault occurred in the 22300 block of Los Tigres on July 26th. The victim was assaulted by her boyfriend during an argument. Deputies responded and arrested the suspect without incident.

Stevenson Ranch Crime

A residential burglary occurred near the 25200 block of Carson Way. An unknown suspect shattered a kitchen window of the residence. It was undetermined at the time of the incident if anything was taken. Possible suspects were detained, however upon further investigation no arrests were made in connection with the incident. A male was arrested for an unrelated outstanding warrant.

Three incidents of shoplifting occurred near the 25400 block of The Old Road. These incidents resulted in five arrests. Charges included burglary and petty theft.

Valencia Crime

An assault with a deadly weapon (rock, flashlight) occurred near the 23000 block of cinema Drive. A male and a female began to argue with another couple. The argument became heated on both sides. The two suspects armed themselves with a rock and flashlight and began to attack the victims. The victims were able to escape and called the sheriff’s station. Santa Clarita Station patrol deputies arrived on scene and quickly apprehended both suspects without incident.

A robbery occurred near the 26400 block of McBean Parkway. A male suspect began to fight with security after he was caught stealing. The suspect was ultimately arrested by Santa Clarita Station personnel.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 24000 block of Town Center drive. An unknown suspect broke into the victim’s vehicle while it was parked overnight. The victim had numerous electronic items stolen from inside the vehicle.

Here are some tips to help your house become less attractive to thieves.

Make your home look occupied, and make it difficult to break in.

Lock all outside doors and windows before you leave the house or go to bed. Even if it is for a short time, lock your doors.

Leave lights on when you go out. If you are going to be away for a length of time, connect some lamps to automatic timers to turn them on in the evening and off during the day.

Keep your garage door closed and locked.

Don’t allow daily deliveries of mail, newspapers or flyers build up while you are away. Arrange with the Post Office to hold your mail, or arrange for a friend or neighbor to take them regularly.

Arrange for your lawn to be mowed if you are going away for an extended time.

Check your locks on doors and windows and replace them with secure devices as necessary.

Pushbutton locks on doorknobs are easy for burglars to open. Install deadbolt locks on all your outside doors.

Sliding glass doors are vulnerable. Special locks are available for better security.

Other windows may need better locks. Check with a locksmith or hardware store for alternatives.

Unfortunately residential burglaries commonly occur during the day when most people are away from their homes working. As you come and go in your neighborhoods, be aware of your surroundings.
