Thieves stole hand puppets and electronics after vandalizing a Newhall preschool last week, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials said Wednesday.

Deputies responded to a report of vandalism on the 24600 block of Walnut Street in Santa Clarita on Aug. 26, officials said.
The suspects entered the school’s classrooms, stole items and vandalized the school, according to a Nixle report.
Staff members also reported a strong odor of alcohol in the building to deputies.
The vandals also spilled black paint on the floor and carpeting in the hallway area, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Orange, black and purple paint were spilled over the outside cement floor, the building and classroom walls, and a chain link fence.
A trash bag was found containing several cans of beer on the campus.
Items stolen from inside the school included hand puppets, a textured domino set, a camera, microphone, batteries and an iPod charger.
These items were educational tools used to teach young children.
