Sheriff’s Department officials recovered the body of a Baldwin Park man Wednesday, who has been missing since a fatal boating trip at Pyramid Lake on Sunday.

Officials with the Emergency Services Detail of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spent several days searching the lake for Jack Thirasack, 64, of Baldwin Park.

He was found drowned Wednesday morning at approximately 9:15 a.m.

He is believed to have been with Rich Tanovan, 52, of West Covina, on a boating trip over the weekend.

Detectives believe that Thirasack died as a result of drowning, though the exact cause of death is unknown. The body was found 20 feet from shore, approximately 30 feet northeast from where the body of Rich Tanovan was found on Sunday, according to a Sheriff’s Department Nixle.

Tanovan’s body was found floating in Pyramid Lake on Sunday by a jet ski rider who contacted deputies with the Parks Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department.

Officials tried to revive Tanovan, who was found about 15 feet offshore on the south side of the lake, near Chumash Island. He was declared dead at the lake.

Tanovan, a resident of West Covina, was caught amongst the foliage and apparently drowned, according to a Nixle report from the Sheriff’s Department Parks Bureau. However, the exact cause of death has yet to be determined.

Family members confirmed with investigators Thirasack and Tanovan went to the lake together. Thirasack’s fishing license was found in the water on Sunday, near the partially submerged boat that was about 30 yards from the shore.

LASD Emergency Services Detail divers have searched the underwater area near the site for the past three days, using several divers, sonar equipment and an underwater cadaver dog.

The dog was also used to search Chumash Island, which is in the lake near the area where the boat was found.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Homicide Bureau detectives responded to 43100 Pyramid Lake Road, Gorman, at approximately 11:20 a.m. Sunday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Tanovan’s death.

A Parks Bureau deputy assigned to patrol Pyramid Lake was flagged down by a man on a jet ski who said he had seen something suspicious in the south part of Pyramid Lake, near Chumash Island.
