Two suspects attempted to break into a Stevenson Ranch residence Wednesday on the 24700 block of Laurelcrest Lane, in unincorporated Los Angeles County, through a rear sliding glass window, according to Sheriff’s Station reports.

“We’ve stepped up patrols in response and the zone leader for that area, Deputy Jeremy Carr, has been working with residents and Sheriff’s Station detectives to help identify and arrest the suspects,” said Sheriff’s Station deputy Josh Dubin of the Crime Prevention Unit. “We’ve been actively patrolling and we have detectives who are actively investigating the incidents.

In the past two weeks, there were two other reports, both occurring on nearby Sagecrest Circle, also in Stevenson Ranch, prompting increased patrol and outreach by officials, he said.

Officials believe the victim in the attempted burglary at Laurelcrest may have scared off the suspects, who fled into an awaiting vehicle, which was identified by witnesses as a black, late model four-door Jaguar or luxury sedan, driven by a woman, according to Sheriff’s Station reports.

All three incidents occurred in the early to mid-morning hours, and all attempted burglaries were made through rear windows or sliding glass doors.

Deputies are asking residents to be watchful of any suspicious activity in their neighborhood and to report it to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121, Dubin added.

Santa Clarita Valley residents of unincorporated areas have the same ability as city residents to request Sheriff’s Station checks on their homes while they’re on vacation, officials said.

In order to request a vacation check, a resident can fill out a form on the city of Santa Clarita website by clicking here.
