Mario Salazar, 20, of Canyon Country, was arrested at 2:40 p.m. Monday, after deputies received numerous tips on his whereabouts, officials said. He was booked on a burglary charge in connection with a theft at the Oak Tree Gun Club.
“With help from the media and the community we serve, detectives received tips, they investigated those tips and it ultimately led to the arrest of (Salazar),” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. This is another perfect example of how our community is safer when we can work with the public to solve crimes.”
Sheriff’s Station officials released footage Wednesday of a suspect they believe is Salazar kicking in the door of the Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall back in April.

Salazar allegedly kicked in a door around 6:50 p.m. April 26 at the Oak Tree Gun Club on the 23100 block of Coltrane Avenue in Newhall, in the unincorporated part of Los Angeles County.
The stolen items included: 2,000 .556-caliber bullets; 250 30-caliber American Eagle bullets; 500 .45 caliber bullets; 500 9-millimeter bullets; a $79 rifle case; and a $1 bottle of water.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station detectives immediately began following leads and released surveillance video and still photos taken from the location in hopes of identifying the suspect involved in this incident.
Detectives are presenting a case to the District Attorney’s Office today and expecting a Wednesday court date for Salazar, officials said.
