Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Saugus, near the intersection of Seco Canyon and Bouquet Canyon roads, where two large plastic bottles containing marijuana allegedly were found in the suspect’s vehicle.
The deputies’ discovery was followed by a consent search of the suspect’s residence, where Sheriff’s Station deputies found evidence of illegal marijuana cultivation and evidence of chemical extraction.
The suspect, a 25-year-old Santa Clarita man, was arrested for the alleged illegal cultivation, in addition to a violation of California Health and Safety Code 11379.6 (a), which states: “Every person who manufactures, compounds, converts, produces, derives, processes or prepares, either directly or indirectly by chemical extraction or independently by means of chemical synthesis, any controlled substance” is subject to a penalty not to exceed seven years in jail.
He’s being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
A little more than an hour later in Canyon Country, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies found an illegally parked vehicle and contacted the owner near the intersection of Shangri La and Utopia Court.
A 36-year-old man from Sun Valley was suspected of being under the influence and in possession of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia.
Both suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. There names were not released because they were part of an ongoing investigation, according to Sheriff's Station officials.
