Kristi Lynn Henderson, 49, stands accused of setting her home on the 31200 block of Quail Valley Road on fire, around 5:30 p.m. Jan. 1.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department put out the fire in about 10 minutes, and officers estimated the damage at around $200,000, although this figure can change, said Inspector Tony Akins.

Henderson was charged with arson, and she pleaded not guilty during her initial arraignment Jan. 3.

A preliminary hearing is a presentation of the facts of the case in front of a judge who determines whether there is enough evidence to merit a trial.

Henderson is due back in court June 11, when the preliminary hearing is set to be scheduled, according to the court calendar for the case.

“A felony was committed by Kristi Lynn Henderson, who did willfully, unlawfully, and maliciously set fire to and burn and cause to be burned an inhabited structure and inhabited property,” read the felony complaint by the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles.

The case is being prosecuted by Emily Cole, deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Henderson about 30 minutes after the fire was extinguished, according to official records.

She has been in custody since Jan. 1.

Henderson is being held in lieu of $45,000 bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.
