Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Releases Crime Reports

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station crime reports are in for the week of June 30 through July 6.

This past week, a former church worker accused of sexual assault is back in court, a bomb was dropped off at the Sheriff’s Station and deputies confiscated 1,500 packets of salvia.Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Releases Crime Reports

A Santa Clarita man who was accused of six counts of sexual assault for alleged crimes in St. Louis, Mo., is due back in court next month, a court official said.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies seized more than 1,500 packets of alleged “spice,” or illegal synthetic marijuana, and issued two citations as the result of an investigation into four Santa Clarita Valley tobacco and head shops, officials said Wednesday.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Department’s Arson and Explosives Unit responded to a report of a small explosive device that was brought into the Sheriff’s Station lobby Wednesday by a Santa Clarita resident.

After a months-long investigation, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives arrested a Valencia man who’s a bank employee suspected of stealing thousands of dollars from his customers.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested one suspect on felony charges and responded to hundreds of calls for service, including a fire related to illegal fireworks, due to Fourth of July celebrations Friday night, authorities said.

Crime Reports

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country, Castaic/ Val Verde, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.

Canyon Country- East

A residential burglary was reported near the 27000 block of Appaloosa Drive. In this incident the victim left for vacation over the holiday weekend. When he came home he saw that someone had broken into his home and stole several items from the location. The suspects also stole the victims 2006 black Lexus convertible.

There was a garage burglary reported near the 17500 block of Harris Way. In this incident he suspect stole items from the victim’s vehicle which was parked in a garage. The victim had only left the garage door open for a few minutes in the morning.

A vehicle burglary was reported at the intersection of Medley Ridge Drive/Lost Canyon Road. In this incident the victim’s cell phone was stolen from the center console of the vehicle.

If you are going on vacation it is good to let neighbors that you trust know so they can watch for suspicious activity at your home. Give your neighbors your phone number so they can confirm any suspicious activity with you.

There have been 6 arrests made in the last month stemming from the Canyon Country bike path robberies. This case is still being investigated by Santa Clarita Station detectives.

Canyon Country-West

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road. During a family dispute one family member punched another family member in the face causing injury. The suspect was arrested. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 27300 block of Altamere Avenue. A former roommate entered through a doggy door while the current owner was home. The suspect was confronted by the victim and the two started arguing. Deputies arrived and arrested the suspect. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

The victim stated his Labrador dog, and leash was taken from within his house. The victim provided deputies with possible suspect information. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft auto occurred near the 26400 block of Ruether Avenue. Two suspects entered a business break area where they stole numerous employees’ purses. They then walked the parking lot and stole a vehicle with a set of keys they found in one of the stolen purses. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/Val Verde

A robbery occurred in Val Verde off of San Martinez Road. A male Hispanic in his 30’s entered the local liquor store and pointed a silver handgun at the clerk demanding money. The suspect took an unknown amount of U.S. currency from the register and fled on foot. The clerk described the suspect as 508′ weighing 185 pounds and believes the suspect was a gang member.

A commercial burglary was reported from 27000 block Saddle Ridge Way in Castaic. Three separate storage bins were broken into. The victim was unsure what was stolen at the time of the report. A witness reported seeing a black 2013 Chevy 1500 4 door pickup truck parked nearby. A male black wearing a backpack was seen climbing the fence to the location just prior to the incident.

A burglary was reported from the 30000 block of Arlington Road in Val Verde. Suspects cut a hole in the wall of the building and removed the window to gain entry to the kitchen. An ice machine was stolen.

A residential burglary was reported from the 29000 block of Muledeer Lane. A locked shed in the rear yard was broken into and several bags containing camping gear were taken. All the items except a WWII “gas mask” were recovered on the side hill of the neighbor’s house and returned to their owner.

A theft from an unlocked vehicle was reported off of Glacier Place. Passports in the victim’s names were reported stolen.

A grand theft was reported from the 31000 block of Castaic Road. A check for $999.99 was cashed using an unauthorized access code. The victim reported the same thefts have occurred at several other truck stops throughout California.

Saugus

There was a grand theft reported from a beauty supply store in the 26800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on July 7th. The victim had her wallet stolen from a customer in the store. Detectives are followingSanta Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Releases Crime Reports up on this incident.

A vehicle burglary was reported in the 28200 block of Stonington Lane on July 3rd. The victim discovered that someone had smashed the side window to his vehicle and stole stereo equipment. Deputies are searching for the stolen property.

There were two reported thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Saugus area over the past week. The first occurred in the 26600 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on June 30th. The victim reported that someone stole his wallet out of his unlocked vehicle while he was away for the day. The second theft from unlocked vehicle occurred in the 21600 block of Windsong Court on July 2nd. The victim reported that someone stole computer equipment from her unlocked vehicle which had been parked in her driveway.

Stevenson Ranch

A residential burglary occurred near the 25100 block of Sagecrest Circle. An unknown suspect pried open a rear sliding glass door and upon entering, ransacked the interior of the residence. The suspect(s) took a safe containing a firearm, several pieces of jewelry and U.S. Currency.

A residential burglary occurred near the 26900 block of Pebble Ridge Place. The victim returned home to an open front door and ransacked house. Taken during the incident was miscellaneous jewelry.

A petty theft from a vehicle occurred near the 25200 block of Carson Way. Several personal items were taken.

A petty theft/shoplift occurred near the 25400 block of The Old Road. A female suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel when she exited the location, failing to pay for items she concealed in her purse. The suspect was arrested by responding Santa Clarita Valley Station deputies.

Valencia

A residential burglary occurred on the 25200 block of Via Tanara between the hours of 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Due to the high heat, the victim opened the garage door to let air in. While the garage was opened person(s) unknown stole a bicycle which the victim left unsecured in the garage.

A petty theft of a bicycle also occurred near a bike path at Valencia Boulevard and Creekside between the hours of 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The victim locked her bicycle with a chain located at the front entrance of the bike path. When she returned she found the chain had been cut and her bicycle had been stolen. No witnesses or suspect(s) were located.

A robbery and petty theft of employees tip jars occurred in food establishments during various times and locations. The victim’s observed the suspects take the tip jars, located by the cash registers, and run out of the locations. One suspect, a female adult, was arrested at the time of the incident.

A second robbery occurred at Citrus Street and the Mall Entrance between the hours of 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The victim was approached by a male and female suspect who demanded his book bag. When the victim refused, the male suspect punched him in the face and took off with his book bag in an unknown direction.
