Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Crime Reports Include Threats, Burglary And Theft

The Santa Clarita Valley’s crime reports from the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station have been released for the week of Aug. 11-18.

This week a threat against Santa Clarita schools garnered national attention, “selfies” helped Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies to identify suspects in a burglary  and several cases of theft that occurred.

A 15-year-old Golden Valley High School student was arrested around 9 a.m. Sunday for a series of threats made online against Santa Clarita Valley residents, including a threat made against Valencia High School, according to a Sheriff’s Station official. The teen denied the charge in front of a judge on Tuesday, according to Greg Risling,  a representative for the DA’s office, which is similar to a not guilty plea in adult court.

The defendant’s next court date is Sept. 5, according to officials. In response to the incident, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station increased school security this week.

Homicide detectives are still unclear on how a Valencia woman ingested an extremely lethal dose of heroin, which led to her death in a Santa Clarita Valley jail cell back in June, officials said.

Officials with the Inspector General’s Office are reviewing a sampling of Sheriff’s Department arrests in response to a motion by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich.

The body of a man found with his throat slashed in a Valencia warehouse Aug. 14 was reportedly picked up by coroners Tuesday, said Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.  The dead body has yet to be identified.

After seeking the public’s help with an investigation into a home burglary following the victim’s reported discovery of “selfies” online taken by unknown individuals, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials have identified the two persons of interest who appear in the pictures.

Canyon Country EastSanta Clarita street racing murder charge

A residential burglary occurred near the 27000 Brown Oaks Way. The suspect tore the screen at the rear of the residence. The suspect made entry into the location and attempted to steal a safe in the master closet.  An additional residential burglary occurred near the 27300 block of Rock Rose Lane.  The front door frame was destroyed and the house was ransacked by the suspect.  The homeowner was unable to determine if anything was taken.

There were several vehicle burglaries reported near the Jakes Way area. In all of the incidents the suspect(s) shattered a window on the vehicle and gained entry.  In each vehicle the suspects stole items that were in plain view.   

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the 27500 block of Sierra Highway. In this incident three male Hispanic suspects approached a person tagging on a wall near an apartment complex. The three suspects got made that the victim was crossing out there gang tagging that was already on the wall.  The three suspects hit the victim with their fists, crowbar and a pipe.  This incident is being investigated by Santa Clarita Station COBRA detectives.

Over a two month time period an unknown suspect stole a HP laser jet printer from Pine Tree Elementary School.

Canyon Country West

A residential burglary occurred near the 19200 block of Avenue of the Oaks.  The victim had her cabinet containing numerous antiques.  The victim also had her checkbook, and ATM card taken from within her residence.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 18500 block of Via Princessa.  Suspect(s) unknown entered through an open “drive through” window and stole two beer bottles.  The suspect(s) also attempted to pry open the cash register but were unsuccessful.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Two vehicle burglaries occurred near the 18600 block of Via Princessa.  In both incidents, suspect(s) unknown pried open the rear window and stole the third row seats from the vehicles.  Both incidents are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft occurred near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Mirror Way.  Suspect(s) unknown stole the catalytic converter from the victims vehicle.   This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/ Val Verde

A residential burglary occurred from the 28000 block of Cascade Road.  A side window to the residence was pried open and the house was ransacked.  The owner believes only a dollar in change was missing.  The crime occurred while the owner was on vacation.

A 2007 Toy Hauler trailer was stolen from the 31000 block of The Old Road.  The suspects hooked up a vehicle to the trailer and drove off with trailer in tow.  The owner reported two firearms  in the vehicle when stolen; a Remington 870 shotgun and a Smith & Wesson 380 “Bodyguard” pistol.

Newhall

On Friday the 15th, between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., a burglary occurred in the 23600 block of Meadowridge Drive.  The suspect entered through a rear bathroom window and stole electronics and a television.

On Wednesday the 13th a catalytic converter was stolen from a 2007 Toyota Sequoia parked in the 24600 Wiley Canyon Road.

On Friday the 15th a 2010 Hyundai Accent was stolen from 22800 block of Lyons Avenue.  A suspect was arrested, and the vehicle was recovered in Pasadena later that same day.

On Monday the 11th, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., a tailgate was stolen off a 2012 Dodge Ram truck that was parked in parking lot behind at Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway.

 

Saugus

There was an assault with a deadly weapon reported in the 18700 block of Plum Canyon Road on August 14th.  The victim was assaulted when he confronted the suspect over recent vandalisms in the area.  Deputies are searching for the suspect.

A commercial burglary was reported at a local shopping center located in the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on August 16th.  The suspect was arrested after purchasing items using stolen credit cards.

A vehicle was reported stolen in the 24000 block of Copper Hill Drive on August 15th.  The vehicle was located a short time later a close distance away.  Deputies are following up on leads to the incident.

Two vehicle burglaries were reported on Aug. 14 in the  28500 block of Santa Caterina and the the 19400 block of Sassoon Place.

Stevenson Ranch

A residential burglary occurred near the 25300 block of Silver Aspen Way. An unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked garage and took a bicycle and $200.00 from the center console of the victim’s unlocked vehicle.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 25600 block of The Old Road. An unknown suspect entered the after-hours ATM area and attempted to take money out of the night deposit box. The suspect used glued rat traps in an attempt to fish the bags out of the box.

A grand theft occurred near the intersection of The Old Road and Calgrove Boulevard. An unknown suspect took a catalytic converter from a 2004 Toyota Sequoia. The vehicle was parked in a dirt lot near the Towsley Canyon hiking trail.

There were three incidents of shoplifting near the 25600 block of The Old Road. These incidents resulted in three arrests. Charges included, petty theft, burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

Valencia Santa Clarita Valley Detectives Look Into Online Threats Against School

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Homicide Bureau is currently investigating the circumstances of the death of a male adult near the 25000 block of Avenue Kearny, Valencia.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 26400 of Bouquet Canyon Road.   Five male black adults walked into the location and stole numerous electronics devices off the display.  Two of the five males held open the doors to the store, as the other three males cut off phones, iPad’s and tablets.  The suspects were seen leaving the location in a white Dodge charger.

A grand theft occurred near the 24201 Valencia Boulevard.  The informant stated he received rings from two different customers at his place of business.   After a day went by the informant was unable to locate the customer’s rings and reported them stolen.  No suspect information is available at this time.  The rings total over 20 thousand dollars.
