Jonathan Szabo, 20, of Canyon Country was arrested Sunday and charged with felony vandalism in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries and vandalism near the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road.
Following an uptick in vehicle burglaries and tire slashings in Canyon Country since November, a man was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies on Sunday when a resident reportedly saw him committing criminal activity.

Jonathan Szabo, 20, of Canyon Country was arrested on felony vandalism charges and is being held at the North County Correctional Facility in lieu of $180,000 bail.
Between November and February, deputies noticed increased incidents of vehicle burglaries and vandalism near the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road.
The suspect(s) would either burglarize the victim’s vehicle or slash the tires, often causing thousands of dollars in damage, according to a Sheriff’s Station press release.
During one incident, a the soft top of a convertible was slashed.
Local COBRA detectives investigated all of the recent incidents and determined that approximately $7,000 in damage in tire vandalism had been committed since November.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed ten felony counts and two misdemeanor counts of vehicle burglary and vandalism against Szabo.
He is scheduled to appear in North Valley Superior Court in San Fernando on March 10.
