A Santa Clarita man charged with soliciting his wife’s murder was granted bail Tuesday in a review of the case in front of Judge Michael O’Gara.

Dino Roy Guglielmelli, 52, of Canyon Country, is now being held in lieu of $10 million bail for attempted murder and solicitation to commit murder.

Guglielmelli was originally remanded into custody without bail, after his initial arraignment Dec. 6, when he was ordered to stand trial.

There was concern from the deputy district attorney that Guglielmelli would try to flee the country, based on testimony from Richard Fuhrmann, who is the prosecution’s main witness.

Guglielmelli is being charged with two counts, attempted murder and solicitation to commit murder — the prosecution is alleging that Guglielmelli believed he was paying Fuhrmann to have Guglielmelli’s wife, Monica Andreny, killed.  

Fuhrmann testified that he surreptitiously recorded several conversations with Guglielmelli, the CEO of Creation’s Garden, after he became concerned for Andreny.

Fuhrmann testified at a preliminary hearing that during conversations with the business owner, who operates a multimillion-dollar, international herbal supplement business, Guglielmelli said he would flee the country if he were ever investigated.

No recording of Guglielmelli making that statement were produced at Tuesday’s bail review, prompting O’Gara to grant bail.

Andreny and Guglielmelli were in the midst of a contentious divorce, which has not yet been finalized, according to court testimony, when the alleged crimes occurred.

The final taped conversation between Guglielmelli and Fuhrmann is what prompted the CEO’s arrest, because it was taped on a device provided by the Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crime Bureau detectives.

Guglielmelli needs to raise $1 million in cash or assets, 10 percent of $10 million, in order to be freed from custody, according to officials with the District Attorney’s Office.

Guglielmelli is being housed at the North County Correctional Facility at the Pitchess Detention Center, and was still in custody as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Guglielmelli, who owns a home in the upscale MacMillan Ranch neighborhood in Canyon Country according to online records, is due back in court Dec. 18 to enter his plea on the charges.
