“Family members who are trying to bail their loved ones out of jail don’t always realise that there may be more expenses after they pay the premium and provide required collateral,” said Inessa Chavez, co-owner of All American Bail Bonds.

Clients may have to pay reimbursement for long distance phone calls, excess travel expenses for the agent, posting fees, bounty agent/skip tracer expenses, payment of the bond amount for the defendant’s failure to appear, attorney fees and court costs.

“Keep the bail agent advised of any address or employment changes of the defendant or other parties to the agreement,” Chavez said. “Also, if your loved one has skipped their court date, help aid the bail agent and fugitive recovery agents in locating the defendant.
